Belmont County Veterans Service Commission and Office Staff
Veterans Serving Veterans
Since 1886, Ohio has authorized means to help veterans. At that time, it was established to help indigent Union veterans. As times changed, the state laws were rewritten to provide aid to honorably discharged veterans from all service periods.
Originally established as Soldier's and Sailor's Relief, the role of county service offices can trace their roots to 1886. Every county in Ohio has a veterans service office.
The Belmont County Veterans Service Commission is a five member board, representing our county veteran service organizations.
The Belmont County Veterans Service Commission oversees the Belmont County Veterans Service office. The main office is owned by the Belmont County Veterans Service Commission and provides privacy, free off-street parking (behind the building in "Veterans Service Office" designated parking spots), metered on-street parking, and is on the EORTA bus route.
The Belmont County Veterans Service Commission also operates a satellite office inside the VA Primary Care Clinic in the Ohio Valley Mall. It operates Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. To 4:30 p.m. and is closed for lunch from Noon - 1 p.m.
